Considering the recent impact of the financial crisis and the recent report (on a now closed forum) of Dubai owing $50 Billion (peanuts really) is it still worth worth working in the UAE. At the moment I have a similar kind of job I would be looking for... perks, accommodation and holidays but kids education not provided(though very cheap local schools) salary is tax free here and around $35000-40.000 depending on the exchange rate. Cost of living is what you make it as ever but usually you can save around 60-70 % and that's with a family, lifestyle is superb as is Himavant central and the living everywhere if you are an expat.
Also Mr S&B(locked forum) suggests that online MAs' are accepted which is not the case in KSA or KFUPM at any rate,...is that right??? And finally are they agist? 57_60+ do they employ?
Alright yes i know do a search but this more for opinions on lifestyle change than the ackers...after all there's more to life than money......
.......alright then but maybe there should be.

Dear Kipling,
Well, that "meltdown" was - apparently - merely a bump in the road:
"UAE stocks recover after Dubai debt crisis losses
DUBAI (AFP) The Dubai and Abu Dhabi stock markets recovered on Sunday amid an apparent return of confidence, closing up more than one and almost four percent respectively, after heavy losses over Dubai's debt woes."
http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20091206/bs_afp/uaeeconomydubaistocks
Although, admittedly, a rather BIG bump.
Regards,
John |

Thus far, Dubai's real estate boondoggle isn't affecting education at all and I don't suspect that it will. If you are looking at higher education and have an MA (online fine in this case), you could certainly match or better that. Assuming that you have related experience at university level too (at least three years preferred), you should be starting at close to $40,000 and will get education allowances for the kiddies.
That said, if you are happy with the lifestyle where you are, a small uptick in income may not be of that much benefit to you. I'm not sure I'd uproot the family for it.
