Although I can tell by reading in these forums that not many people are too concerned about the legality of teaching in kindergartens, it also sounds like deportation is a possibillity and does happen to some people. If both my wife and myself are planning to move somewhere to teach together (not necessarily the same school) is Taiwan a bad option for a couple because of this possibility, and the fact that it sounds like Taiwan only pays well if you do take the risk and teach illegally?

A course I cannot recommend, but if you like playing with fire...

In other words, they give you 30 days as a "trial period," and if you don't pan out exactly as they want, they fire you mercilessly with seven days' notice. During those seven days, you must continue to work, making it tough to find another job. After finishing, you have seven days to find another job or leave Taiwan.

In my case, I was fired (I never missed a class or had a serious complaint from a parent, and I always prepared). I "luckily" managed to find another job, but since I had only seven days, I had to take the first crap 11-hour-a-week job that was thrown my way, with a boss from hell...

However, at least this time, I was smart and negotiated a clause in my contract that says "if you fire me, you have to give me 10,000 NTD or one month of notice" so that if the *beep* fires me, I'll be either financially better-off for it, or at least have time to find a better job. Cool
