There are a bunch of threads with titles like, "Who's still waiting for a visa from X?" I, too, wish someone would invent the thread whose contents one can know without actually looking at and reading it, but until then doign so can be really instructive.
A bunch of others who have not started threads are also waiting. Suffice it to say that lots of people are waiting on lots of visas.
But no one yet has answered my previous query as to just what is happening in the classrooms into which we latecomers will eventually go. |

Dear InterRick,
I have heard back from a couple of people who arrived there in the last two weeks, both working for Princess Noura. The first was enjoying sitting outside at the compound, having a "drink". Teaching hadn't begun, but teachers were assessing students.
The second person is someone I've been in contact with for a while before she arrived there a couple of days ago. She started work immediately, but doesn't have classes yet, it seems. She will do a 15 minute grammar presentation for coordinators in order to determine what level she will teach. She will have a split shift in two locations - "work, work, work" as she says. That's all I know.
Who are you working for?

HI,
No,at least they don't have my passport as I was appointed directly by the University and I signed a preliminary offer so now I'm waiting for the visa only. |

Thanks for answering so fast! How can they give you a visa without a passport? |

Actually the sponser is going to send us the visa authorisation no. by an email, after which we have to proceed with all the paper work and the passport to the embassy for the visa stamp.
I'm also ready with all my paper work ,just waiting for the ANo. to come. |

I think the key is to wait, and then wait some more. I think we need to have patience......although soon I will be bankrupt! |

A visa agent told me yesterday that the Saudi embassy is swamped right now with Muslims applying for visas to go to Mecca for Hajj, the annual pilgrimage. And the embassy will be closed during the week of Hajj, which is November 10 - 13, I believe.

Shouldn't hajj visas be a different department than us? |

Dear Rebecca,
I am waiting for Golden Gate - since late August when I returned the preliminary offer. I may have to give up soon. My bills aren't waiting.
I am thinking of the possibility of asking them to pay me beginning now.
Good luck,
Rick |

Hi InterRick,
I have been advised not to make any changes in my life in the US (quit job, move out of apt., etc.) until I have the visa in my hand. It may be a mad dash to move out and pack and go by that time, but so far it's been good advice. I rented out my apt. on Craigslist, and I'm staying with a friend in another state while going through the visa process. My renter understands the situation and I keep in touch with him by sending email updates. It has worked out well, and I'm enjoying my time with my friend. I have time to study esl websites and plan my exit strategy from my apt: what to keep, what to throw away, what to pack and take with me. I have a little bit of money to bay bills with, but rent was the biggest, and the renter is paying that.
What is supposed to be your location in SA? I'll be in Riyadh.
