Should I take my CELTA course just before I leave so it is fresh in my mind?
Or should I get it, then settle all my affairs in my home country then leave 3 months later?
Hiring Season?
April-May?
Aug-Sept?
Thanks |

Do it when it is convenient for you. 3 months won't make that much difference.
Hiring season depends largely on WHERE on the planet you want to work.
In many countries in Asia the school year starts in the spring (Mar for Korea, April for Japan, May for Thailand). although many schools in China start in Sept. Hiring for the foreign staff usually takes place 60 days before (they often only get 60 days notice of renewal or replacement for foreign staff).
IF you are talking about working in a language institute (rather than a school) then they are hiring year round rather than at the school year start and mid term break.

If you know which country you want to work in you should consider doing the CELTA there (if possible) - sometimes you might be offered work by whichever school you do the course with - or you might find other contacts. When I did the Trinity 4-week cert in Prague (a long time ago!), about 3 or 4 of us stayed on for jobs at the end. |
