I applied for a CELTA course, got accepted, but it won't start till January. Does anyone know when the next recruitment phase is? I presume there are some jobs in the summer?

I'm also wondering where the best place is, job wise, for after January.

Summer is actually NOT a good time to look for jobs, other than at summer schools. Europeans take their holiday time seriously, and July/August are particularly quiet.

Job-hunting in Feb/Mar is likely to be a matter of picking up scraps here and there. Normal contracts are Sept/Oct thru June, so you can see that it's unlikley you're going to land a contract for full work, unless you happened to get lucky and find a school that's recently lost a teacher or gained a big contract (these usually occur in January).

So, after Jan, the next real hiring wave is September, I'm afraid.

As for places, assuming you have an EU passport, any of the larger cities are likely to be your best bet in general.
