Hello,
I am currently looking to sign an 18-month contract with a Kindergarten in Suzhou. I am a little concerned with the length of the contract and am curious as to what other people may think. It pays 7000rmb a week and I would be working 8-4:30 mon-fri. Although I realize the pay may not be the greatest, it has been the best offer and most legitimate offer that I have received. Any information about breaking contracts and the consequences would be greatly appreciates, along with any information on Suzhou.
Thanks! |

I take it you mean 7000 rmb per month. If it's 7000 rmb per week, the deal doesn't look bad at all!
Of the hours quoted, how many are actually spent teaching?
The consequences of breaking the contract financially should be included in the contract. There is normally a breach penalty. The other problem would be that you would have to get a leaving certificate or recommendation letter from the school to get alternative employment in China.
In another thread, you mentioned arriving with a L Visa (Tourist Visa). Be very careful! Often you will be told that it can be converted to a Z Visa later but the school is not actually able to issue the invitation letter. This is a favourite scam operated by unscrupulous recruiters. Double check this before accepting any offer of employment. |
