Me: 3 years of exp. teaching esl, BA, and an expired California Preliminary Credential (art)
After I completed my credential program from a CSU in 2003 I went to Spain to teach esl instead of looking for a public school gig in California. Here I am in 2009 without ever having utilized my credential which is now expired. There are a few steps I would have to do to get a clear credential.
My question: I understand most international schools like two years of experience in the subject area. Could my 3 years of esl experience substitute for this? Do international schools generally care if the credential is expired?
My goal is to work at an international school in Hong Kong or Latin America. I know if I go back to California, take a semester of courses to clear the credential and get a couple years of experience I would have no problem. I just want to know if all that is totally necessary. Thanks! |
