Chadwick

I teach Business Report Writing and AC1 - a UTS, Sydney -Academic Communication 1 Aus uni course.

First lesson,
I get every student to write 200 words in English on a familiar topic -
You've then got all the proof you need to support any student being failed.
(They cant possibly suddenly become prolifically gifted as academic writers of English. LOL)

Next
We dont accept anything plagarised here at Shanghai Uni SILC
We've got structured courses on Acadamic writing, footnoting, para phrasing etc etc. The students all know now - if they copy, they'll get it back and it'll have to be done again! I just gave back interim reports to 3 groups in a lower streamed class last week. ( we went back a week early) ...those 3 groups got a rewrite instruction attached to there grade. They get 2 days to do it again - ie. fix things up. they all got it back in on time!

and Chadwick
that SILC teacher you quoted me yeaterday is "Sea Bass"`- he's a young business teacher, a pom and also a mate!! - but you could never please him - fair dinkum!

The lot of the emphasis has shifted from spoken to written english in our programs now.

I see your welcome back China Off Topic thread is locked up tight and quick. Why? Maybe someone is not so happy that you are back.

Anyway, thanks for all of the info that you have so selflessly shared with me in the past few days.

You are a true gentleman and scholar.
