Feel free to PM. Can anyone tell me about the ban policy in KSA? Just general info. Generally speaking, will employers provide the employee with a NOC? What is the length of the ban from KSA if you resign? |

Never heard of anyone actually getting an NOC. However, I did see many former colleagues return to the Kingdom without such a letter. I don't know the details of how this works, but it seems to have something to do with washing a passport... |

Generally speaking, I would say 'no'.
Some employers give them, some never do. Others operate on a 'case by case' basis - they might give you one if you're going to another city and they wanted to get rid of you anyway, but not if they wanted to keep you and you intend to work for their rival across town.
The 'washing passports' thing often works, but not always. Some employers demand an NOC because the law - strictly speaking - requires it. Also be aware that, in Riyadh at least, there is a 'gentleman's agreement' (I know I know!) between some of the private colleges, according to which they do not take each other's staff, even if they have an NOC. |

Also, Uncle Bandar has many people's biometric details on his Jawazat database so, one can wash one's passport all they like, change their hair, eye and skin colour...heck even their name and it should (theoretically, I hasten to add) show up! |

Not sure if all this 'biometric' buz is relevant in the case of NOCs.
It is the embassy who ask for the NOC, not the immigration officials. the embassy does not have a database of people's fingerprints etc. So, if you enter KSA on a valid visa, even if you are using a new passport, the immigration people would not consider this suspicious. It's not their job to enquire about NOCs - in fact, I doubt they even know they exist! |

Just pick up the phone and call Saudi Embassy and get an answer.
This little inhumae piece of paper (NOC) seems hard to vanish easily. |

I am in China but plan to teach in the ME in 3 years. Keep these repeated posts about the NOC coming - any tiny shread of information is good to paint the larger, more detailed picture. |

Some employers do give them. Some steadfastly refuse. |
