Anyways it's been 3 years since my last visa so I'm a little rusty at this so I have a few questions if someone has time to answer them.

1)Last time I applied for a visa I was living in Saitama-I've since moved to Nishi-Tokyo. Where do I go to apply for a visa now?

2) What kinds of documentation do I need and how many days/months should I be going before my visa expires? (end of March)

3) I'm currently working for a dispatch company but will be working directly for the school that I'm currently working at starting next April. So the high school should be my sponsor correct?

4) I currently have a "specialist in humanities" visa which I got when I was working for Nova and my next job will be with a private high school-will my visa status be any different or will there be any different requirements?

That's all the questions I can think of now. Thanks for the help!

Oh one more thing. I've read that when you switch employers you need to have a letter of release from the first company that sponsored your visa. Well for me that company was Nova. Do I need to get a letter of release from them somehow? Or will that not be needed in Nova's case? I believe I have a notice of being laid off from Nova after they went bankrupt. Will that do?

you can go to Tachikawa.
Or you could go to Shinagawa.

You live near the Seibu Shinjuku line, right?
Well, bring your passport and alien card.
Look at the website from immigration. You can get the info in English too.
You will have to wait until Monday morning for it to open.

You go to the one that is closest to where you live.

Passport, alien registration card, documentation from the new employer, letter of release from the old employer. Immigration will know what documentation your new employer needs to provide.

yes.

If you are working for a dispatch agency under the humanities visa, you are doing so against immigration rules. Be careful how you state this to them! You are supposed to have an Instructor visa to be an ALT.

Working for a private HS...as a FT teacher? ALT? AET?

I believe G.com currently handles stuff from abandoned NOVA employees. But you said you work currently for a dispatch agency, not NOVA or G.com, so you don't have to get a letter of release from those people, just the dispatch agency.
