|
|
Would anyone be able to share recent experiences relating to the length of time needed for the Ministry of Education (YOK) to approve or deny an application? Im assuming Im not the first one to attempt to be hired at a university through such a lengthy process!
If anyone could comment on the time taken, steps or outcomes from their own experiences Id greatly appreciate it.
(Side note: First post! New to Daves and hope to offer less questions, some cracking advice and an efes or two to the experts in the future.) |

Same here, thanks for the post. 4 months since the forms were submitted and no decision yet. Wish there was some kind of Fedex tracking # for it I could have a look at. |

My girlfriend and I moved to Turkey because we knew it was a hot job market for EFL teachers. However, the government recently decided to English didn't need to be a requirement for many areas of study.
So, keep an eye on Turkey - because of this new legislation the job market might cool down, but it's impossible to know if it will, or, if it does, how much. |

Just got the papers back. The emniyet has decided that I don't need to return to the US to get my visa (rather arbitrarily), so I can pick up my permit in Aksaray in December (and finally get a legal contract at my uni). |

Fantastic, good to hear it worked out.
Did you receive the news from your university, or did you have to take any action yourself to get the papers? Ive only heard from my university director that the hiring papers are with the ministry in ankara and the process has not been completed yet. Its a public uni, so I knew it would take a bit longer, but the lack of updates is somewhat unnerving.
Any advice? |

No, I haven't done anything (except bother them all the time). Of course, now, my residence permit expires today, and my 15 day grace period starts. Let's hope that they don't take too much longer in actually issuing the permits...
If I were you, I'd just keep asking about it. Make sure they know when your current visa/permit is up. That's about all you can do... |

Permit acquired. Took just over six months to get the legal approval from YK, and bringing the papers to the Emniyet this week for residency.
Note to the next aspiring applicant: patience, patience, patience.... |
