Any of you old timers out there have recommendations for a favorite thread? Something from the past that is worth going to page 22 for? I don't think I'll ever make it there on my own if I have to go through the first 21. Or is this cheating?

The Exotic Partner thread is always good for a laugh... Blame Capergirl for innocently unleashing the demon hordes of stubborn Asian-chick lovers/western-slob haters and fat feminazi defendants and and and... woooooooo I'm gettin a thrill just thinking back to those heady days last summer when this board was awash with stupidity and judgmental lunatics from all points in the spectrum...

OK, blame me. Very Happy It was a relatively harmless topic in the beginning. I mean, with so many single ELTs working in foreign countries, the issue is bound to come up eventually in your (our) lives. The basic question was "Are you lured by the exotic?", not "Why are Asian women better than Western women?". Therein lies the problem. Some people simply cannot read. Wink

Aye, khmerhit, you do speak the truth-- our boards are awash with lunacy and insular savages. However, that particular thread focussed them all into one small space, much like a magnifying glass frying ants...

Most days there are mere pockets of stupidity-- an asinine comment here, a bland generalisation there. The impact simply isn't the same.

PS Did you like your birthday poem? I wrote it when I should have been lesson planning! Very Happy

Capergirl, please note the disclaimer adverb 'innocently' in my note about your thread. I agree that it was started in wholly relevant good spirits. However, as all of us fat, slothful, sloppy, feminazi generica western chicas know, the tune was bound to change.

I actually enjoyed it. Nice, light summer reading. Time to sit around on my big fat ass, in my grungy sweats, really unattractively, plotting revenge against western men 'cos that's my job as a feminazi, etc. Very Happy

Yeah I read the native speaker thread. I came across a reference to it in another post, read it and enjoyed it. That's what gave me the idea to ask outright.

I liked the birthday poem so much I couldn't think of anything to follow it with. But Happy Birthday KH.

Off I go to read about Cowboy Pete's exotic partner.......

Here are some amusing Dan posts from the China (Off-topic) board:

Should I kick his *$$?

Kicking his *$$ indeed, Part II

Return to the weightroom

Unhelpful consulate visit

Dinner with the translator

Back in Canada

Happy reading!

Laughing Thanks James T. I had missed most of these. I've been splitting my sides at gems such as
Quote:
Something new!? I asked in scornful disbelief. This is not my idea of something new. New means good or improved - like this new chest exercise Ive been doing - not bad or revolting like the stuff youve ordered. Have you ever seen foreigners eat this stuff? No, you havent, wise guy, because they never do. They eat THE OUTSIDE of animals. The stuff that DOESNT perform bodily functions. You know: THE MEAT!

I'm afraid this rings all too true. Being from the same home town as the talented author, I can attest to the plausibility of his character. But I wish I couldnt, I really do! Laughing Laughing
