Why did you move to Mxico, and how long did it take for you to learn Spanish? |

1) On the run from the police
2) They speak Spanish here?
Seriously...
1) For the love of a woman
2) Difficult to say. I was communicating in about 6 months, but reasonable fluency probably took about 2 years. (I now have about 8 years 3 months here)
...hey, that last sentence is Spanglish, isn't it? |

1. I'm from the Old Territories, California, so the move was quite natural: I have come to know my brothers from the South.
2. I did a one year, study abroad in Bilbao, Basque Country in 2002. I studied Castillano 5 days a week, 4 hours a day.
Since I've been here in the land of the No Mames Gueyes, I've learned many Mexicanisms. (that's the whistling wink to be exact) |
