I just read on International School Review that University of Nizwa extended an offer to teacher but withdrew the offer after the teacher asked about flight arrangments. He/She is now unemployed.
Everyone, try to be careful.

I suspect that there are lots and lots of details missing here. A friend of mine was hired there not long ago and she probably sent a zillion email questions... with no problem except that the paperwork took a lot of time.
Even some of the best employers have been known to back out after the job was offered. It is usually because the applicant triggered something in the security check... or a previous employer pointed out something that might be a problem to the new employer.
Asking about tickets? I'd say the chance that this is the reason that the offer was withdrawn are slim and none.

Might be worth noting that some employers get very annoyed if you dare request a stopover on the way to initial arrival at work--for example, New York - Dubai via two days in London...anything they even imagine would involve a more expensive ticket or a later arrival than they demand. |

Here is a cautionary note-
Beware of alarmist posts with too little information to support them. |

Not to mention second hand alarmist posts where they found the information someplace on the "internets" and don't actually know the person involved.

Security and background checks should be done prior to any offer of employment. |
