Hey guys, An IELTS school in DongGuan wants to offer me 15000 p/m for 20 hrs a week.free accomodation + airticket..etc
Do you think that's a good wage for the location?
Another job offer I got is for 10000 p/m in Changchun without accomodation or anything else...
Not sure which one to take, any suggestions? |

Is that pesos or RMB?
15k sounds outrageously high PLUS free "accommodation." What exactly does "accommodation" entail? A apartment? I dunno, i've never been there but I would think that offer is too good to be true.....i'd be suspicious. |

It is for IELTS which pays more than teaching oral English. |

They both look reasonable offers on the surface.
10K in Changchun for a ESL teacher looks way above the norm (you'll be more than a Dongbeipeasant on that!).
15K in Guangdong sounds more than liveable to me. I am in Guangzhou right at this very moment. I have come here on a few day' business from Shandong. Looking around the area that I am staying, TianHe District, I would guess that this is one of the more underdeveloped areas in the city. That said, I can see no evidence that the locality is any more expensive than Shandong where the net per capita income is much less.
The restaurant prices are much the same as Shandong. There is a real estate agent in the vicinity of my hotel. The property prices for renting and buying also seem very similar to Shandong.
I don't know about the outlying districts and cities. I am going to Jiangmen in a couple of days. It will be interesting to compare prices there too. |

About 30 minutes on the high speed train that goes between Guangzhou and Shenzhen. |
