Apologies if this is off topic but i'm hoping that someone has an answer to this particular issue.

I have a mobifone sim and every 2 minutes or so I get a vietnamese 'note' flashing up on the phone. It is obviously advertising something that I don't want, need or understand. The problem is that this is draining my battery at an annoying rate and I can't seem to turn these 'notes' off.

Anyone else have the same issue? Is it the same with all carriers? Am I going crazy?!

I managed to disable this note by hitting a few random items on the menu. You should ask a local to do it if you're stuck. I had a Viettel SIM before and never had these annoying adverts.

Thanks for the advice. I'll ask a vn friend to have a look. Mobifone is also a completely useless network. Texts arrive 24 hours later. Network busy signal. Don't make my mistake (anyone who is reading this in the future).

MOD EDIT

I have 3 sims with Mobifone and the advetising seems to be linked with something on the Supersim menu that I can't delete from my handset. Two of these numbers haven't been given out to anyone but a few friends, one number could be in general circulation but ironically this gets less advertising? I'm not sure if that's what you were getting at.

The only other sims I have held have been UK, French and Kazakh and compared to all three, Mobifone has so far been terrible. But, maybe the other carriers will be just as bad.

I'm with vinaphone. Good service and no ads like you describe, but I do get an SMS every now and then from the carrier advertising recharge promotions.

I found out today from a local that if you send a text to 9241 and have 'TC' in the body of the message, it will cancel the advertising.

So far so good!

I think this works across all the networks

I just did this (using vn mobifone) and it looks like it didn't work. Still getting the ads. Any other suggestions, anyone?
