I work in Thailand but at a Korean company. All my students are amazing. But the assistant manager (his wife is the manager)........ Well I just can't work him out.
He refuses to shake hands regardless.
He NEVER greets or says goodbye.
He interrupts classes and I don't think challenging it will help.
He secretly copied all my handouts, no problem, I would have given them to him, but to do it all secret like, feels weird.
All copying must be done on his computer and he acts like I just asked for unprotected anal sex if I want anything copying..... Which is everyday in this curriculum free environment.

I have done most of Asia and never experienced this so strongly and this is the only time someone hasn't responded well to my attempts of professional friendship.

How do I handle this guy or is it a Korean thing? I wouldn't understand
Crying or Very sad

I'm afraid you can run into disordered personalities anywhere in the world. I doubt there is any way to make things go well with this guy.

Not sure how you know that he secretly copied your handouts, but its not important. If everything else is OK, and you did say you liked the students, then just ignore his behaviour. Dont think too much.

I know he copied them as I have to wait until he says 'enter now' before I enter the copy room/his office. The door was open and I watch him copy them.
I don't really have a problem with people having my materials, it's the sneaky way he decided to do it. No other teachers here were aware he was doing this. It's possible he only copied mine but that thought feels like it's feeding paranoia.
Thanks for the advice and yes I think my students here are the best I have ever had the pleasure to teach.
