I'm currently planning to teach in China later this fall. I was just wondering how the economy and job market is over there for English teachers? I know it is not very good for finding work in Japan or Taiwan at the moment.
I just want to know how the process will be. If I should have back up plans or not. I'm taking the Oxford Tefl course. Will that be beneficial? |

It's not at all difficult to find a teaching job of some sort in China. The bigger question is whether or not you can find the type of teaching job that you want (whatever that might be.).
By Oxford TEFL course, do you mean Oxford Seminars? From what I can tell, the certificate from that course is beneficial in some parts of China, if you don't have a BA. However, if you do have a BA, then the Oxford Seminars course doesn't hold much weight.
The job placement service is nice though. I love the school that I got placed at, and I've been there for almost two years now. |
