Does anyone know any schools with smaller classes

12-20 students?

and decent pay?

Government schools tend to have large classes. Even 40-50. In the boonies 50 or more is poss.

Some of the more "exclusive" International (High) Schools may have small classes. I knew of a certain school which ran a UK curriculum along with the IB, and that school had 10-12 in some classes. BUT, you must be a "real" high school teacher, not a TEFL-monger, to get those jobs. The top jobs can pay 120,000 plus (p.m.)

Some of the very hi-so Thai schools (like the Chula Demonstration School) have an EP-type programme with small class sizes. Again, those jobs are not easy to get. You earn about 70,000b.

In general, what you want is quite hard to find.

Ive got a BA and a TEFL and 5 years teaching/managing/teacher trainer experience BUT . . .

I'm not a certified teacher in the states.

There are some decent English Program (EP) schools out there that keep class sizes relatively small (20-30ish) which is very doable IMO and a fairly typical classroom size in most countries. There are also some mid range private/bilinguals schools that will also have "resonable" class sizes.

What do you mean by "decent" pay? In my experience, that can vary greatly from teacher to teacher.

The above mentioned type jobs will usually pay in the 35-45,000 baht/month range and a few may be in the 45-55,000 range, but will be highly contested. With your experience and and education, you should be able to land one of these types of jobs. That is assumming that you are friendly, erergetic, between 25-45, "white" (its true), native speaker, prentable, etc, etc.

well, beige, red in summer, definitely white but not casper the ghost

decent pay would mean "high end" of whatever is average
for a region - (if the average teacher makes 30K, i want 35-40, or what is reasonable to fight for) I've had to bargain and push for more
money before - nothing new

I have realized that after a certain point though, it doesnt matter if you teach with a magic wand and merlin English in their head in encyclopediatic volumes, you're just not worth it!
