I plan on moving to Japan and can arrive anytime from the beginning of August on. If I plan on job hunting in Japan which month would be the best to arrive?
I was thinking November but just read a post by Glenski saying August was probably not a good month to arrive. Arriving earlier then August is not much of an option due to my rental arrangements. A few months later would not be bad as I am currently saving/paying down school debts by $1000 a month. I don't want to wait till next Feb/March as my girlfriend has just moved back to Japan.
Thanks in advance,

August is when public schools are on summer break, and it's when most of the JET ALTs start work. Bad timing for you, IMO. Anything from Oct to Feb is bad, too. Come in Feb/March for optimum results. Expect lots of competition nowadays, even for entry level work.
Any other time of year, and you will just have to take your chances. Overall it's not a good time to come here. |

If you are really desperate to get over here around that time perhaps you should try getting a job with through overseas recruitment in your home country.
There are far fewer jobs on offer even with the recruiters; the ones they have may not be great; you may not end up very close to your girlfriend initially... but it's certainly better than simply turning up to job hunt at the wrong time of the year. |

Some of the big overseas companies start to recruit in the July-Sept. window for the following year starts. It's all about timing when applying for the first time. |
