Can anyone verify this?
HCT's first semester starts in next week. Thus, the job ads that are posted now are for August? Is this true? For all jobs? |

No... the second semester starts now. First semester starts in Aug/Sept, and the most hiring will be done between now and June for that semester. If an ad is for immediate hire, it normally says so. By this time, it is too late for hiring this semester because of the paperwork required. If they still need a teacher or two, they will normally hire an adjunct already in country.

| The second semester started 4 weeks ago. In the new academic calendar for 2010/11 startup has been confirmed for Sept 13th. |

New hires are usually there a week before the rest of faculty has to be back - so I would guesstimate Aug 29, possibly a little earlier. You usually have 6 nights in a hotel and days spent out in malls buying furniture, at the health clinic getting medical tests, the police station being fingerprinted and "orientation" at the college - fun days when you're usually jet lagged out of your mind  |
