I am sure I was reading a post about this academy this morning, but now I cannot find it for love nor money. They are advertising on the jobs page for 10 teachers. Does anyone know about them? Or if you could provide a link to the original posting I would be most grateful

Many thanks

Cheers. But I felt there was something on one of the message boards - along the lines of 'watch out for this employer' Is it possible that it has been deleted? Do you know anything about this employer? Many thanks

Dear Wildcats in the house,

This one, perhaps:

http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=78357&highlight=jazeera+international+academy

I used the "Search" function (see the button above), typed in Al Jazeera International Academy, chose Saudi Arabia for " Forum" and then the Middle East Forums for "Category."

Regards,
John

Many, many thanks. I know being new here is no excuse for idiocy, so apologies.

Dear Wildcats in the house (love the user name,)

No need to apologize for being new here - and it certainly wasn't "idiocy."

That's why I included the process. We all had to learn how to do it at one time or another.

Regards,
John

Al Jazeera Academy has a fine reputation in Riyadh. However the salary they offer is below average for ESL teachers in Riyadh. You should ask them or negotiate with your recruiter for more money! Laughing

Ok,, I agree that they have a excellent reputation in Riyadh...for screwing over western teachers. You should avoid this school at all costs..

The salary is below average and you will work on your days off.
The split shift is brutal and you will work about 52 hours a week.
If you make it all year and choose not to renew your contract.
They will charge you Riyals for one reason or another.
They have even ask people to pay a month salary because that could stay one extra week. The Arab owner will hold your passport until all the
fabricated debt has been cleared. The Egyptian co-owner is never around and is a pure *beep*. He will dock your pay, if you forget to wear a tie.
The will not provide transportation to and from work. They will only provide transfortation from one shift to another. This was a terrible experience for the five of us and you have any questions .. I will go into details
