and only a BA in English plus 2 years teaching English in Korea. And 1 of those "useless" online 40-hour TEFL certs. What are the possibilities of landing within 30 days anything that will atleast cover my rent and food bills? Im a US citizen for the record.

Maybe, if you hustle. The problem will be a work visa and more likely you will be doing regular visa runs.

If you have searched the other threads, some employers have been discussed. I am only familiar with the American Language Center. You may be able to pick up some part-time.

In Syria you will be legal or you will not stay. No tolerance for illegal work - especially for US or UK citizens !

Welll... Scot has perhaps overstated it a bit. A friend of mine taught there for about a year, but got tired of the visa runs. That said, they may make it more difficult now for Americans. (and British)
