Hi,
I recently completed my CELTA course and am thinking about moving to Spain. I am British, have a degree in Sociology with Educational Studies and an 24 years old. I was wondering how much work there is at the moment, I was thinking specifically of Madrid as I heard that is where most of the jobs are, but am open to suggestions.

Thanks

Well there are jobs around at the moment, but don't forget that many courses finish at the end of May and most finish by the end of June, and will not re-start until the end of September. Teachers are not paid over summer here, so by the time you have built up a full schedule it will be time to move on.

That said, if you arrive now(-ish) then you can work on geting private classes and finding summer camp work in the provinces and by the coast (many schools here operate such courses).

Frankly, if you have other choices of countries to go to, then Spain is not brilliant (and neither are most European countries). September is really the way forward, but if you're going to come then do so now and be prepared for some serious scouting around for work as you will need a full time schedule as soon as you possibly can.

Tefl.com is a useful site, there are some posts coming up with immediate start.
As mentioned before Sept is the best time.
