Hi everyone - I'm a 28 year old womanl living in Istanbul. I'm planning to move to Mexico for the upcoming school year. I'd enjoy moving to a rather large city (and if water is close, a bonus).
I'm CELTA certified with an MA in Sociology. I'd like to teach in a University.

Any city suggestions? I know its a vague question, but living in Istanbul, I'm a bit distanced from it all...

Thank you for any ideas!
C

Hi,
You might try Gudalajara. It is the second largest city in Mexico. Lake Chapala is not that far away, and you are about four hours from Puerto Vallarta which is on the Pacific.
Good luck in your quest.
Best

People will have things to add, but you could almost get out a map for this one. There are a number of medium sized cities on the coasts of Mexico (250-500,000), and they would all have universities of various kinds, I expect; and, if you're willing to teach high school, as you mentioned in your other thread, the opportunities would be that much more varied.

If you require bigger cities than that you may be out of luck, if you also want the sea. Cancun is bigger, and on the sea, but lacks the charm and culture of the colonial cities inland.
