Long ago I went through getting a medical check and Z-visa in Japan before arriving in China. I'm in Beijing now and will start the job search. Time is on my side as no worries on accommodations.
Things on my mind are:
1) the medical check in Beijing - where is it done now and how much?
2) I'm told people go to Hong Kong. Is this correct, or just for B-visas as in the old days? I'd prefer to go to Japan since I speak Japanese and would have free places to stay. It would also be easier than traveling 20 plus hours home. However, I am not a resident of Japan and have not been for almost a decade. Anyone have experience with that?
3) Lots of posts to sort through, but any final words on the job search would (maybe not though) be appreciated.
Thanks! |

How did you get a Z visa without a sponsor (employer)? |

Sorry didn't mean to imply I had the Z-visa. I am just preparing how to get my L-visa converted to Z and would like to have up-to-date information and experiences from any who have gone through this recently. |

The medical check is done during the process of getting the Z visa, usually paid for by the employer. As far as I know, you have to leave the country to get the visa; most people go to Hong Kong and, once again, usually paid for by the employer. |
