To my dismay I discovered that supermarkets in Khobar do not have Skyflakes ! What shall I do ? (Skyflakes are crackers made in Manila - wonderful with cheese.)

One of the mysteries of life as a consumer here is that things disappear for months - and then (sometimes) arrive again.

Weetabix is another product which is off the shelves for months on end.

Well, Uncle Scott, replace Skyflakes with Earthflakes which is made from dried Hijazi dates and mix it with camel milk. It is 10 times better than Skyflakes which contains E631 and E635 which are not good for your health and heart! Laughing

I hated it when the Skyflakes would disappear....sometimes they would be gone for months. Then they reappear, and people like me stock up...thus creating another shortage.

Sometimes you can find them in Bahrain when they are not available in KSA. And in Al Khobar, the little Filipino stores downtown will sometimes carry them when the big stores are out. However, the little stores may only have small packages rather than the big tins or plastic boxes.

My deepest sympathies, scot47. Life without Skyflakes is hardly worth living. Wink Wink Wink

I have lived here longer than anybody else, and I don't know what "Skyflakes" are (must not be healthy food, in that case!). I am sure I must have seen the packets and would recognize them if I saw them, but can't put the name now with what they look like.

Weetabix is available in Danube and maybe in Panda as well.

I also don't know "Earthflakes".

A shortage of ANY kind of "flakes" in Saudi is hard to imagine.

John

Dear Stephen,

But Skyflakes Fit is junk food that's GOOD for you:

"Skyflakes Fit
SkyFlakes Fit oat fiber crackers is the newest member of the SkyFlakes family. With four grams of dietary fiber per serving, it helps regulate the digestive system and aids in proper weight management by adding to your daily fiber intake. Together with a sensible diet and regular exercise, make SkyFlakes a part of your day for a healthier you!"

That's probably how scot47 maintains his amazingly fit and youthful physique.

Skyflakes are what we Americans know as "saltines". They usually come in big tins or plastic bins. They are thin and crisp and delicious...but in no way are they good for your health.

Johnslat, only one kind of "flake" is missing in KSA: the snowflake!
