I've been looking for a starter position in the Shizuoka or Tokyo are at a NOVA type organization. But I'm told that some smaller private institutions are a better way to go. Any advice? |

Are you in Japan now? Can you afford to be during job hunting? Feb and March are peak months for hiring. What is your timeline? Smaller schools cannot afford to recruit from abroad. A few will do phone/Skype interviews, but for the majority of small schools, you're going to have to come here first. |

Join me in Shizuoka! Depends if you want multi-cultural madness with very little breathing space (Tokyo) or a more traditional Japanese area (which also means less English-speaking facilities) with pretty views of Mount Fuji... I think! Tokyo's only a couple of hours from Shizuoka anyway so you could visit on weekends.. |
