Hello,

I've secured a job teaching English in Xian beginning July. Obviously I know a little about Xian but I'm interested in finding out how it is to live as a teacher or foreigner there. I lived in Jinan, Shandong in 2008 for a few months and loved it so I have some idea what living in China is like. If anybody currently works or lives, or has done so, in Xian, please give me a little information regarding your thoughts of it as a city to live in.

Does the fact Xian is a tourist highlight mean it is an expensive city? (Comparitively to other cities in China)

What kind of sports can you do there? I'm a keen martial artist and did Tae Kwon Do last time in China but I would be interested in any martial arts classes; particularly wushu.

What kind of activities can you do in Xian in your time off?

Is it easy enough to travel on bicycle or is it necessary to use public transport?

I wouldn't usually say this but its kinda obvious you haven't tried the search function... I know cause I've posted up a few tidbits about Xi'an over the last few months. Try it, its quite useful.
