Hello,

Question I am interested to know opinions about both Oxford Seminars and Global TESOL courses for TESOL training Question .

I am interested in teaching English in Peru in a not-so-popular city of Chimbote. (Family reasons) Nevertheless I am doing this before I will complete a degree in anything. At the moment I do have Diploma in Finance from a post secondary institution and I am curious about taking a TESOL course for the fundamentals of teaching English. (Where to start, how to approach the class, etc). I have been reading a lot of about the CELTA course, however this course isn't offered in my city nor do I have the time to take a month off to study... for the moment. The two classes I have found have been Oxford Seminars and Global TESOL. I have heard good and bad thing of each and I have been readying other comments. Actual training with an ESL student doesn't seem to be offered with either course but I figured I could also volunteer and help teach English to those who need it on weekends to prepare myself.

I know it isn't completely necessary to take one of those courses but I would feel more confident and prepared to teach Shocked . I do have some teaching experience with dance groups and I attempted to teach some of my cousins English (they were too excited about their Canadian cousin visiting and wanted to talk rather then study) Rolling Eyes

Oxford Sem isn{t that good. Global TESOL, if they have 120 hours and 6 teaching students, then they should be ok.

You could start in your local library if you don't have money to take a course. There are lots of good books.
