Ok. So I was born in America but recently acquired Irish citizenship (passport in processing). I've seen a lot of info about how Americans can get around the need for EU working papers, but not so much on what is actually required for EU nationals.
So three things. (1) can I just show up in Spain with my EU passport and look for work, or do I need to use the passport to apply for some kind of work permit or something? (2) Can I just get a European health card in Spain or do I have to apply for it in Ireland first?
Also, (3) are there any Irish nationals in Spain who can tell me about how taxation works? I know you can't vote in Ireland if you're an expat, but I'm sure you must pay taxes, eh?
Any info you have on this would be helpful. Few websites seem to have specific info on my situation (holding an EU passport but not [yet] residing in the EU).

As an Irish passport holder you don't need anything, just your passport to look for work.
Once you get a job, your school/academy will tell you how to get a social security number and with that you can get a card for medical cover.
You are immediately covered anyway just with your passport for emergencies. A medical card will get you access to a normal doctor for less urgent stuff with subsidised prescriptions.
Tax-wise, you should talk to your embassy: if you are from the US and living there, and intend to go back there, US citizens are supposed to pay tax, even on foreign earnings. You can probably get around this by your Irish passport while you're here, but you should probably check (although this being Spain, you probably won't be earning enough officially to start paying taxes anyway!)
