I was wondering if anyone knows how long it takes to get an FRP after one gets a Z visa? Also does anyone know if after parents get a visa if it is possible for their children to get the same kind of visa and FRP as well? I have heard elsewhere that this is possible but want to see if anyone can confirm this.

AFTER everything is turned into Immigration, it USUALLY takes about two or three weeks to get the residence permit. I don't know about the other stuff.

Thanks john for the info. Does anybody else know about the other question I asked about whether or not if the parents get one the children can as well? And is it possible to get it within about a week or does that just not happen? Is there some process where you can expedite it through the system so that you can get it faster? Some of the people in my family's visas are running out in a few days and wondering if possible to get them under the Z visa. That would be much more convenient.

Yes, children and dependents can be added to your RP. It will depend upon your schools willingness and the local PSB as to how fast this can be done. My dependent is actually listed in my FEC and before they would issue my FEC I was required to get some extra insurance.

Some PSB offices will allow you to add a dependent by just showing proof of relationship (birth/marriage certificate). But that really depends on the attitude of your local PSB office.

If their visas expire soon you need to go to the PSB and ask them what needs to be done. ASAP! Like yesterday. If you have all the documents then they can start right away. If you don't have the necessary documents then apply for tourist visas to get you through until the dependents visas' can be taken done.

DO NOT let the visas run out. 500rmb a day is the fine for overstaying a visa. You can apply for the RP on the last day your prior visa runs out but no later. And even that is a little questionable.

So, basicly. Go to your local PSB and ask them. The requirements vary from province to province and city to city so no one here can give you an accurate answer.

If you enter China on a Z visa you need to apply for the RP within 30 days. Generally it takes one week to get your RP after your application. Ask the employer to get any dependents added to the employee's FEC, which is applied for after they enter China but before they apply for the RP. This will help smooth the process. Obviously The employee need all appropriate documents related to his/her relationship with the dependents such as marriage certificates and birth certificates and usually these will have to be translated into Chinese and sometimes notarized. Get the employer to check with the government department that issues the FECs and with the local PSB for their requirements. BTW, child dependents are those 18 years old and under.

It takes 5 days where I am.

It can also be done in a few hours if you can convince them of some extraordinary reason you need your passport back immediately.
