|
|
I'm getting conflicting prices quoted. I live in a city with my Chinese wife, not far from Shenyang, and I'm currently on an L visa which I need to extend for the first time before the 27th of this month.
I only want a simple one month extension (Multi-entry is not needed). The problem is that the Shenyang entry-exit bureau told me over the phone that a one month extension for a UK passport would cost 160 RMB. A Chinese company who handles visas for foreigners mentioned the same price. He said a "legal entry" is 160, (not sure what he meant, his English wasn't too good). On the other hand the local entry-exit bureau in my small town insist the price for such an extension is 469.
Now, I have no problem paying 469 if that is what I should pay. What I don't understand is the conflicting information. How much is it for a simple one month extension for a Chinese tourist visa on a UK passport? I'd appreciate it if any fellow Brits who have had any recent experiences with such a visa extension could shed some light on this?
Thank you. |

Hi,
I have just handed in my work visa at the local PSB to be converted into a tourist visa, and the price was 160RMB. I am currently residing in Yinchuan, Ningxia. I have a UK Passport.

Mk,
Thanks for the info. My circumstances are slightly different, though. I am in China on a tourist (L) visa. I think the price may be different if you're on a work visa.
Franco, have you just recently, like in the last week or so extended an L visa with a UK passport?
Thanks for the input, guys.
Has anybody else recently extended their L visa in a UK passport? |

Not I, but colleagues. This happens every month or so in Guilin. There, proof of residence registration (can be a hotel) is needed, together with the 160 fee. |

I first came to China on my UK passport. I simply extended it at a price of 160 RMB. After I got married, I went home (Canada) and came back on my Canadian passport and did a one-year multi-entry visa.
Also 'near' Shenyang... |

Sorry, I've had trouble accessing this site over the last couple of days; ironic that it happened just after I opened a rare thread!
Anyway, to update, I had to pay 469, apparently it's gone up due to UK-China relationships souring recently.
The good thing though, is that I will get a six month extension (being married to a Chinese woman probably helped).
Thanks for all your cotributions. |

RMB469 for a six month extension? that's pretty good. many countries charge more than that for a 30 day tourist visa. |

Yes, it's not bad. Apparently it would have been the same price for a one month L visa , too, so I figured I might as well take the six months. |
