Can anyone suggest specific schools/programs/camps that might hire someone just for the summer? Im open to anywhere in Europe, but Im American, so I realize that probably eliminates most of the West. Im looking for something in the 4-10 week range. (May-August) I know thats short, but I dont expect to make much money, and I have a B.A. in education, an M.A. in TESOL, and several years experience with all ages in the U.S. and China. I feel like there must be someone, somewhere, whod like to hire me for the summer. I just dont know where to look.

Any suggestions?

You may find something around (you might try googling language schools on Malta - it's a bit of a summer school mecca, or used to be).

However, it's not probably going to be very easy. Despite your great quals, the summer camp market is pretty limited and competitive.

The thing is that there isn't that much work to go around in the region in summer, and most of the jobs are snapped up by teachers here on the ground, with local reputations and contacts, to tide them over the gap in their Sept-June contracts.

Many Europeans aren't eager to spend their precious holidays studying a language - August is particularly likely to be a very difficult time to scrounge up anyone willing to work on anything. So the market's not huge to begin with.

Finally, the schools here are unlikely to pay for airfare, though basic housing would likely be arranged. You would most likely pay a bit for the experience, overall - which could be worth it to you, of course!

Others may have a different take on the thing - I've fortunately got a job that pays me year-round, so it's not an issue I investigate on my own behalf every year. However, I've got friends and contacts all over the Euroregion, and I think this is a reasonably accurate picture of the general summer camp scene.

Hi, UK has loads of summer schools for European teenagers and children. Most run July and August and with your experince you should make 300+ a week easily. Check out tefl.com and search for summer school jobs, there's probably 50 or more summer schools currently advertising and that will increase as we got closer to summer.
