MOD EDIT I just wanted to announce, in a separate space, that after Quite a few years on this board as an Ecuador authority, I'm moving on.
I'll be flying out of Quito late Tuesday eve next week, and arriving in Seoul, South Korea, on Thursday.
For the rest of this year, I'm freelancing, doing some teacher training wherever it comes up, but Seoul will be home base, as the woman in my life has just started a position at the British Council in Seoul.
I felt like opening a thread announcing this cause I'm afraid I sort of hijacked another thread where it came up.
I'm crying to leave Ecuador, which has really been home, but am excited to try my hand at a non-European language, and to see what Asia is really all about. Also ready to move into a teaching market where there are opportunities beyond entry level. Mostly, excited to catch up with my wife!
And thank you all for all your support and communication through the years in Ecuador.
Justin
PS- THere seems to be a lot of expat teachers with Latin Lovers in Seoul, Naturegirl. I know an Ecuadorian restaurant- we'll have to meet up! |

Dear Justin,
Bon Voyage - but I suppose Buen viaje! would be more appropriate. All the best in you new (ad)venture. Hope it turns out to be a great Korea move.
Regards,
John |

Welcome (back) to Asia, Justin! It broke my heart to leave Turkey after 6 years to move to China but life (and partners) often lead you to places you wouldn't expect! I actually have a friend working at the Seoul BC so your wife will be in good company. Good luck! |

What do you have lined up for Asia?
Your posts will still be invaluable here. Best of luck. |

Wow, Ecuador without Justin... Ecuador's loss will be Korea's gain. Good luck to you!

Oh yes we will. I know my husband is going to be happy to meet someone who speaks Spanish. Ironcially at my uni there's a guy who speaks decent Spanish as well.
But Justin, you ARE going to stay here on the main boards, right? I know I certainly will. It's more positive here than the other boards.
Though techincally my Latin Lover is still in Peru and when he comes, we'll be in Suwon, close-ish to where you guys are, maybe an hour.
I'll tell you the biggest thing I miss is being able to communicate. But, it's pretty funny to hear people talk about how dirty and disorganised and how horrible the traffic is here. Please. It's like a utopia here compared to Latin America. |

Naturegirl- it was the same with Shanghai when I arrived. It was so easy to get anything done compared to everything I was used to. So clean, so efficient! And yet other foreigners were overwhelmed and annoyed by so many things. Funny. I miss being able to communicate too. Chinese, for me, is much much more of a challenge than Turkish was. |
