I just had a telephone interview for a position at PSU and would appreciate any information about working conditions there. Although I'm a woman, I was interviewed by the head of the men's English dept.
I do't know what to make of that.
In addition, I'd appreciate any information you can give me about what kind of package I could expect if given an offer.
I have an M.A. in TESOL and 15 years of teaching experience, including 3 years in the Middle East. I also have a second master's degree.
Thanks. |

Why Saudi Arabia and why PSU? As a woman, with your qualifications and experience, you could find other similar, if not better, offers in the region. Unless you only want to work in Saudi Arabia, of course. |

Nothing really. In most colleges with seperate male and female sections, the men's section usually has the last word on who gets hired etc. even though you wont' be working with them directly.
As for PSU it's a fairly decent place to work but don't know what current packages are like. Teachers used to be housed on the DQ but I've heard that's no longer the case for new hires. Do be aware that like other private colleges in Riyadh, PSU has lost a lot of students over the past year or so. I heard that they are downsizing and have or are about to let go of several English teachers. Can't confirm this though. |
