Sorry, I know this probably doesn't qualify for a new topic, but I found a job right here in Kaohsiung.
Okay, to make it topic-worthy, let me tell you guys the following information:
- I did eight interviews with my recruiter, and not a single interview turned into an ARC-sponsoring job.
- I did three interviews on my own, the last of which DID turn into an ARC-sponsoring job.
I'll be making 600 NTD per hour with a raise to 650 NTD per hour after three months (hey, not bad for Kaohsiung these days) and get 15 hours per week. Even without the raise, that's nearly 40,000 NTD assuming four weeks per month...
This definitely makes my week/month.
Thank you to everyone who offered help and encouragement. I'd name names, except that I'd inevitably leave someone out and that person would feel left out.

Well done, Rooster. Maybe you stole the job from me I'm out of job now and probably will have to go looking again in the future sometime. You must be VERY happy that you finally landed something. You definitely deserve it. Best of luck. |

Good job, now work hard and do your best to meet your students needs
I also want to add since you may still want some more extra hours. Go to a print shop and get business cards made give them to any and everyone.
Also, keep studying Chinese remember there may also be translation jobs available to get some extra dough |

Creztor, even though I have already landed a job, I have a job interview tomorrow with the place that Yamahuh told me about (in Putzi). It was arranged prior to me getting a job in Kaohsiung.
I will do the interview tomorrow in Putzi just in case something happens with this job in Kaohsiung (like them having a walk-in from a Harvard PhD holder tomorrow), but if not, I might have to tell them another teacher's name in case they're desperate and were counting on me to start right away (I have gotten that vibe from their last couple of calls).
Would you like me to forward your contact information if I end up turning down that job? I think it pays 50,000+ per month. Only if Yamahuh is okay with it, of course, since it was his lead originally.

Congratulations! Now, I will have to pass on to someone else who might go to Guangzhou some school information offering work. Anyway, its about time! You know? I bet you that your sweetie pie is happy. |
Recently she issued the statement (proper English mine): "If you are serious about me, you will meet my parents. But of course it's your choice, and you don't have to meet them."
I declined that particular weekend because although I wanted to prove I was serious and meet her parents, I knew they wouldn't approve of some basically unemployed dude.
Now I will have fewer reservations about meeting them, and I know for a fact that the girlfriend is quite happy because she was afraid I was going to take off, move to Guangzhou, and meet like 1,000,000 new girlfriends.
Today is a good day. |

Sorry Rooster - don't know how I overlooked this thread but congrats on the job. As for the job in Putzi, I have no problem at all with you passing on info or contacts to anyone interested just so long as they mention my name. |
