|
|
There are two girls in my class that always seemed to be challenging me.
What I started thinking is that maybe they just want more attention.
So, I asked both of them to meet me everyday before and after class for extra English practice.
Problem solved. They never do meet with me before or after class, and they also stopped being so difficult.
I like my solution better than that of the Chinese teacher. He intentionally ignores both of them because he dislikes them.
Anyone else care to share any discipline success stories ? |

Depends on age groups. Different ages react differently to different forms "punishment". |

Yea, I like the "meet the challenge head on" method.
I had a couple of boys, (high school) who always seem to have something
to say to each other while I was giving a lesson. After a couple of warnings I decided to kick one of them out of the classroom and I asked
him to stay in the hallway. After I finished the lesson I went out and found
the boy still standing there. I asked why he talks while I am giving a lesson and he couldn't come up with a reason. I told him I wanted him to learn regardless how hard it is and it is rude of him to talk to his friend while I was talking.
He agreed, and I asked him if he wanted to return to class and be quiet
while I am talking. He did and that was the end of the problem.
Not all the problems were solved that easily. Another student I had to get the Chinese head teacher to talk with him. My point is that ignoring
bad behaviour is not my way of handling it. |
