A friend of mine was offered a job to teach in Saudi Arabia for a company called interlink language center. I have found some disturbing videos on youtube and one article making accusations that the company doesn't honor it's contracts. However the video seemed to be a bit fantastical and produced as if working for the company was something like an exorcist film. Has anyone worked for the company or know someone who has? Please give me some detailed info about this place. Please provide specifics. The offer was good and he is seriously considering it. Before you advise me to search interlink in the search engine on ESL cafe I have done so already and haven't found anything with a lot of details. Please if anyone knows details it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance. |

Do the search for "Interlink Al-Yamama" and choose search for all terms. It should dredge up a lot of dirt.
I'm not sure what kind of "details" you are looking for, but these boards are rarely heavy on specific details. The few ex-employees that I know from the place are on the road and not posting at the moment. Most of them didn't like the place much, but that doesn't mean that your friend won't find it acceptable. I hear that the housing benefit has gone downhill... and many of the teachers are MA students from the US using it as their practicum.

If your friend goes waaaay back to 2009 and 2010 in this job discussion forum, he should find quite a bit. As for the video, I've seen it and question the sanity of those who made it. That being said, one must also question the sanity of those who hired them in the first place.
As far as breaking contracts go, your friend can rest assured he will most likely receive his paychecks. Beyond that, though, any promises made verbally or in his contract should be taken with a grain of salt.
On a semi-related note, the main reason you have not received more replies to your post is because this discussion forum is now BLOCKED in KSA, so people who are currently in KSA cannot get on and comment about what is going on (which is a very good thing for INTERLINK management). |
