|

Hello,
I am a female elementary school teacher in BC, Canada and this is my third year teaching. I have a BA and a BEd (certified K-12) and I am currently obtaining my Special Education Diploma.
There are so many schools on the net and I was wondering if anyone can help me narrow down the search.
I'm looking for the goods-benefits, airfare and accommodation covered as well as a competitive salary. I've heard you can earn up to 5000 US a month?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated if the above exists:)
Thanks! |

Check with Teachaway... they are recruiting for the Ministry of Education. Go to the job openings page here and do a search. I saw an ad not too long ago. Or, I expect that you can also google up their webpage.
I don't know that you would have enough experience to get up to $5000 a month, but they are paying well.

YOu would meet the qualifications to get a postion with lots of the international schools/english speaking schools.
I would suggest you look here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_schools_in_the_United_Arab_Emirates
and work your way through the list.
As for the salary... I'm not sure. I think it depends on the Emirate, but I think that salary be with a housing allowance added in. Most of the teachers I know who have free housing, airfare and childrens educational allowances are making 8 to 12K AED per month ($2000 US to 3000 US) or less, but we live in a smaller emirate. |

Thanks all,
I will check out Teachaway, they do pay well. As far as going through the big lists of schools-that's exactly what I've been seeing and would like to avoid, lol. Looking for people who can help me narrow the search. But many thanks |

The general answer is that you need to look through that big list. There are very few reputable recruiters (teachaway etc). The rest is up to you.
The real question should be why do you want to come to the UAE? And where would you like to work?
Dubai, sharjah and Abu Dhabi are huge and extremely expensive, so it is possible to get higher salaries there... But you will spend more.
But if you want a job with a higher salary (in any emirate) you will have to do the leg work. It is only about a days worth to check all fo the websites and send off CV's.
