I have been offered a teaching job in Abu Dhabi through teachaway. I have an M. Ed in special education, B.S. in Elementary ed, ESL certification and 25 years of experience in teaching, from K through adult. I want to take the job, and I am also kinda scared to leave home and family. Is this job going to be an adventure and great experience, or am I heading toward an unknown, and possible hellish disaster? I need some guidance and direction. |

Have you done a search here on the board? There has been lots of discussion here about these positions. Also, they are on Facebook and you would be able to read what the current teachers are thinking.
Are you certain that you will be in Abu Dhabi? Life is generally easy there for a Western female. (I'm assuming that you are one. ) Teachers for this contract are assigned around to various schools. Naturally conditions vary at different locations...
I'd say go for it!! Yes, there will be plenty of frustrations and things handled as you are not used to, and it will certainly be a bit of an adventure. But, a very tolerable one in a country that will provide all the modern conveniences.
