Do you work in the public school system or for a private school?
Private
Do teachers typically call their students by their first names in class?
Yes
Do you socialize with your students outside of class?
On a few occasions.
What are common discipline problems teachers have, and how do you handle them?
I was working with adults so there wasn't any problems really
The Role of the learner-
To learn.
Is English a required subject in public school?
It is but the content sucks and the books are outdated
At what level do students begin studying English?
Pre-kinder but English study in Chile is so basic, it barely qualifies. Did you ever take German in high school? If so, how well can you speak the language? Get it?
How many hours per week are they required to study?
My students barely studied but they were paying adults. Passing or failing was their problem, not mine. I would tell my students that learning a language is like learning to play a musical instrument, that hour or 2 a week in class won't do anything for you if you don't study and practice
What variety of English is promoted?
North America
How is education valued in Chile? |
Not sure. People just go through the motions to secure a better future for themselves. |
