I was recently contacted by Al Hoty Company about teaching for Aramco.
Does anyone have any knowledge of the current teaching package for Aramco?
cheers

The package is from the contractor - in this case Al Hoty. They have a reputation as one of the better of many contractors supplying indentured labour to the Oil Company, but you are still going to be working for a contractor and treated as a second-class non-citizen, and non-Aramcon.

The golden days of direct hire and easy living are gone.

Al-Hoty provide teachers for the Aramco Training Centre which trains Saudi school-leavers. It does not provide teachers for Aramco Schools which are located on the main Aramco Compound. Different ball-game.

Scott, thanks for your candid comments. 150yearsinKuwait, anyone that has spent as much time in Kuwait as you have, I'd imagine you've worked with everyone, at one time or another. However, that doesn't mean you know me. Keep your personal comments and opinions to yourself. And, no, I won't "trust you" on this or any other topic.

As a contractor, the money and benefits are pretty good, but the Aramcons will lord it over you and unless you're in Dhahran your accommodation will suck.

The students are on the whole appalling - lazy, rude, aggressive and with their wasta (connections) your boss will favour them every time over you.

I survived 2 years there and remember the day I left and went back to London as one of the greatest days of my life.

The Golden Years are over. Aramco will not hire you direct as they used to do but will phone up Al Hothy or one of those other "contractors" and say,"Send us a dozen teachers tomorrow."

The contractor makes more out of the deal than the teacher. It reminds me of the dirty business with cleaners and school dinner ladies in the UK in the Thatcher and Post-thatcher period.

Vile.

All I can say is,"Roll on demob !"

ARAMCO treats EFL instructors hired through contractors now with the same respect its gives to South Asian floor cleaners....NONE! You are nothing more to them than a warm body in the classroom and sometimes, if you make it through a one year contract, an entertaining clown! Laughing Laughing

I left Hail university during the Hajj Holiday in Dec.2009 ( before 3 months ) and didnot go back,I hit the wall and no room for patience!
A recruiter called ( Al-Zahrani ) contacted me last month about the Aramco interview that will be conducted in London between 8-12/04.
If I signed the contract with him, what about Hail and my Iqama?
Is there any problem with the new job of Aramco? conflict with it? What about the idea of changing my passport and get new one, but my finger prints were taken in SA before I started my job in Hail last year! any information please? I need this job now.

Why work for them if they treat you as a second-class citizen?
