To the UK posters:
Where is the best place to get cheap tickets?
Do you recommend an open return ticket over a one-way?
What are the prices like to Kansai in early July? |

I have always found www.statravel.co.uk to be the best bet. Especially if you are under 26! |

Hi.
I'm looking for the same info, but for Canada. Are there any decent companies besides Travelcuts? |

I got a one-way ticket from www.expedia.co.uk with KLM to Kansai International, changing in Amsterdam, for 350 or so. Lufthansa also do cheap tickets around this price, with a change in Frankfurt. The only direct flights from the UK to KIX are with JAL for around 750 and notoriously small seats. Bear in mind though with all these airlines you get a baggage allowance of 20kg. I'm going in a week or so and I'm sure I'll go over the allowance and with KLM excess baggage weight is charged at 38 per kilo. |

Just wanted to add...I wasn't trying to hijack your thread, viddy. Just curious. Most of the flights I've found from Toronto to...say...Tokyo...Are for $1500 CAN and up. |

By the way, the only airport I investigated tickets for was from Heathrow. The situation may be different if leaving from Gatwick. |

Oich, try Flight Centre. They have been advertising flights for $820 return but that's what their white board says and what they might tell you could be another story. Mind you, with tax it could equal something close to $1500.00 (kidding). Good luck, I'll be looking myself soon. |

I managed to get a cheap deal with Aeroflot, 300 gbp with a stopover in Moscow. Can't remember which company I went through though.
Aeroflot's current safety record is actually quite good. Don't be fooled by the reputation. however, the air stewards do nothing to enhance the appearance of the interior of the plane, and as of 2 years ago, they still allow smoking on some flights. |

What about leaving Japan? Other than STA and No. 1, anyone know of any good online sites for buying plane tickets? Last summer it cost me 400,000 yen to fly my family to Vancouver. Ouch! |

This was a one-way ticket, I take it?

Ask travel agent to check EVA Airlines. EVA only operates in and out of a few cities worldwide, since they're a small airline, but they have incredibly cheap tickets. I checked their website and they do operate in London. Of course their web prices are higher than their travel agent prices, but definitely ask your travel agent for a quote. Oh, the airline is out of Taipei, Taiwan, so you may have to fly through Taipei. |
