Hi, can anyone share about their experience of living and working in Ras Laffan Industrial City.
What to look out for and what to avoid.
Is it normal to work 6 days week, 48 hours a week? |

In EFL? This is an English teacher info/discussion board - I doubt if you'd get anyone from any other profession looking in here. |

Millie....Ras Laffan is where QP and Qatar Gas teaching posts are situated. Ras Laffan compounds are nice if that's where you're gonna be. It's about an hour from Doha. Who are you going to be working for? Where are they going to put you? Single in Ras Laffan might be very dull as there isn't much there!! |

Thanks Sharter - didn't know that - do those entities require 6 day 48 hours/week from EFL teachers? |

Most people are housed in Al Khor and commute out to RLC. Most of the people who live out there are laborers in labor camps. Not the best place to live. The commute from Al Khor is about 20 minutes. |

The only people who live out there are the workers who are housed in dreadful bachelor campus. The senior staff and junior staff guys are housed in a great compound out in Al Khor. Nothing much to do there but one of the girls I once dated who works at the International school told me they are building a Lulu Shopping Center. I've also heard that Barwa are building a resort and beach front villas. That may change the whole place. For the most part, up until now, it's a backwater. People drive to Doha for fun, however the highway can be deadly as people speed and overtake all the time. |

The camps are frightful and when you compare this to the nice housing the senior and junior staff get in Al Khor Housing compound you wonder why the little guys who do all the dirty work are treated so substandardly. They need better accomodation and conditions. |
