I've an MA in history, and I'd be interested in any information on teaching history or social studies in the Middle East. Is there anyone out there who snagged a job teaching in subjects other than ESL? |

There would only be limited work in these areas in the (American?) based International Schools. They also require a teaching certificate/license from your home state.
I'm referring here to the schools where embassy staff and expats send their kids. Organizations like ISS (International School Services) hold job fairs in the US.

There are some jobs but as VS points out you need teacher certification in your home country. BEd or PGCE if you are from Britain, Teacher's Licence if you are from USofA.
You may also be expected to have recent experience in teaching your subject. 5 years in a Language School in Korea may not impress potential employer looking for a teacher of History and Social Studies.
Sorry if the news is not what you want to hear. |
