I'll graduate from a college here in the States in December with my BA, and in May I'm doing the CELTA at IH Budapest. I don't have any ESL teaching experience. As a newbie with a CELTA and no degree, would I have any chance of picking up an ESL teaching job between early June and late August? If so, where? I'm guessing the answer is no.

Very slim chances in Europe. Europeans take their holidays seriously and August in particular is really a down period. Not that there is zero work around - there are some summer camps and etc, but most such posts will go to teachers here on the ground, who have worked a normal Sept-June contract and have the local contacts and reputations to land the few summer gigs around. You'd need serious luck to land anything in this time period as a newbie without local contacts.

Thanks, spiral. I thought that would probably be the case in Europe, especially since nobody would go to the trouble of getting a work visa for a newbie American just for a couple of months.

You would definitely get summer camp work in Korea. They will be happy enough with the degree and will be screaming out for summer teachers.
Vietnam is also an option but will require esl quals. Summer camps start late May to late July.
Actually if you get your degree in December, you could do a winter camp in Korea, for a taste of what it's like and then do your CELTA.
