Do you have 'the best' qualifications to offer in return???

Really, to be honest, this is an almost impossible question. You haven't specified ANYTHING about the industry sector, jobs, etc. And that doesn't take into account net vs. gross, either.

If you actually want people to attempt to answer this question at all, you need to give us a little more to work with.

Regards,

G.

The best salaries in Asia are Japan and Korea.

You might want to go back to the Newbies forum and help people to pin down some of the basic questions you have. Scattering yourself all over General Asia, Qatar, Newbies, and UAE doesn't really help much.

Along with the 'best salaries' comes the 'best competition' for the few available positions. The schools can pick and choose and if you don't begin to compete (ESL qualifications, experience, personality in the interview) you'll be on a plane home soon or putting cash advances on your VISA until you do see the light.

A more meaningful question might also be, "Where can I potentially save the most money". I'd prefer to earn $3000/month in Indonesia than $4000/month in Singapore.

Even though i did not start this subject, i'd like to piggy back off it

I do feel i have good qualifications, a california teaching credential, biology degree, masters in education, and 6 years experience in America, and after this year, 1 year english teaching in Shanghai

I love the job, but 10,000 rmb a month is just not cutting it and it is hard to save anything substantial

1. Where can someone with my qualifications make the most money?

2. And even more specifically, is China or Taiwan better for higher salary? (I want to continue to improve my Mandarin)

by the way, i'm cool with working cram schools or international

3. How do I find these jobs?

Thanks for the advice

I know the owner of a school on the east coast of Malaysia (peninsula) that likes to hire Americans to teach in his junior/senior high school. He pays above the local salary scheme, so one can do quite well relative to living expenses.

PM if you are interested and serious. I have referred several people to this school owner, but he is quite picky; some people were too old (50s, 60s), and some were too young and inexperienced (22 and fresh graduates). You appear to be in between these two extremes.

Taiwanese universities pay about NT55,000 a month, give or take, which is approximately 12,000 rmb. Taiwanese universities do not offer benefits like housing, flights, etc. but I would imagine that Shanghai is far more expensive to live in than anywhere in Taiwan.

Is your teaching credential in Biology? If so, you could always try one of the international schools, like the Taipei American School or Taipei European School. The salary would be higher and as an out-of-country hire, you would also get housing and other benefits.
