Dear ESL teachers,

Avoid at all times the worst DEVIOUS recruiter operating under CECN (Canadian Education Consult) and their No 1 crook and big swindler, Fadi (MOD edit), a Jordanian, their "Finance Manager" in UAE/Oman. This crook will not hesitate to rip you off using whatever means he has at the moment.

The joke CECNE has been recruiting ESL teachers to work for the Higher College of Technology in Muscat, Oman, at a chaotic place called the English Centre. The English Centre is run by another Jordanian who does not only make English basic grammar errors when he speaks, but is very unprofessional and incompetent as well.

This CECNE is a true masquerade claiming to operate under the Canadian Education Centre Network. Well, let me tell you out of experience that the Higher College of Technology does not apply any educational methodology, pedagogy or teaching approach. Almost all the English teachers at the English Centre do not only have a Master's degree in Education, TESL, or English Linguistics, etc. but also their BA (BSc) degrees are in any field except English.

So, my advice to all the qualified ESL teachers is: AVOID THE HIGHER COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY IN MUSCAT AND ESPECIALLY THE CECNE OR YOU WILL BE RIPPED OFF AND VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Robert

Did you consult this board before taking this job? MAs are not required and these recruiter hired posts are entry level jobs for the Gulf... and the recruiters for the most part are in a race for the bottom.

Unless this college is different from the others, the recruiters are only responsible for hiring the teachers and managing the pay/benefits of the contract. I don't believe that they have anything to do with the actual teaching or pedagogy. That is normally set by the college and its goals.

As I said on the other thread, if they are not complying with your contract, go to the Ministry of Labor and turn in a complaint.

Robert,

Ahmed will be pleased to read that you libelled him through his position rather than by name. If you are on staff at the College I am sure he wiil thank you personally.

I take it your contract has not been renewed or you expect that it will not be? One must wear very thick gumboots this time of year to protect one's feet from the vitriol.

The term will soon be over Robert and you can move to your next 'gig'

Hadth Saeeda!
