Gidday,
I have applied and been immediately "accepted" for a summer camp at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou and other ciites throughout the province. I'm in the States now and just looking for a summer adventure without toooooo much hastle. Does anyone know if this is a reputable program - ie Will I get paid? Will I have to work 7 days a week? etc... Ad states they are looking for 100 teachers. Surely some of you are interested or know someone who has attended. Any advice on summer programs would be appreciated.

I worked there last summer. Hot and humid as New Orleans in Hangzhou. You will get paid on time no problem. We worked 6 days a week for 6 hours a day with middle school students. Mine were senior high so were rather interesting. I only worked at one of the Zhejiang U campuses near the main. The hotel is owned by the school and is A/C and quite OK.
If you like hot humid weather then go for it! |

I posted a huge message about ChinaTEFL on the other thread about summer jobs, so I won't repeat it all here. Regardless, the weather is quite hot and humid here in the summer, but if you can get into a school with AC, your nights will be free (cooler) and that is a little consolation. I would ask a whole lot of questions about where you will be located and how the program will work for you before I take the job. As I worked here last year, I was able to get a few "favors" for this years go-'round. Email me if you want some more details. [email protected] Kevin |
